'UNPRECEDENTED MYSTERY"

Victor Knowles - Monday, March 10, 2014
(Reuters) - The disappearance of a Malaysian airliner about an hour into a flight to Beijing is an "unprecedented mystery", the civil aviation chief said on Monday, as a massive air and sea search now in its third day failed to find any trace of the plane or 239 people on board.
This is such a sad story and it reminds me of what Jesus said about another "unprecedented mystery" of missing people, far more than 239, that will happen some day. "Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. Two women will be grinding at the mill; one will be taken and the other left. Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come." (Matthew 24:41-42).

IS MY NAME WRITTEN THERE?

Victor Knowles - Friday, February 21, 2014
IS MY NAME WRITTEN THERE? Then those who feared the Lord spoke with each other, and the Lord listened to what they said. In his presence, a scroll of remembrance was written to record the names of those who feared him and always thought about the honor of his name. (Malachi 3:16 NLT)

SPEAK FRESH

Victor Knowles - Wednesday, February 19, 2014
SPEAK FRESH. Don’t let even one rotten word seep out of your mouths. Instead, offer only fresh words that build others up when they need it most. That way your good words will communicate grace to those who hear them. (Ephesians 4:29, The Voice)

WHAT LOVE IS

Victor Knowles - Friday, February 14, 2014
Nearly everyone knows John 3:16. Not quite as well known is First John 3:16, "This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters" (1 John 3:16 NIV). Happy Valentine's Day!

THE SOURCE

Victor Knowles - Thursday, February 13, 2014
THE SOURCE OF ALL LIES. Think about all the lies you hear every day in the media, movies, special interest groups, false religions, even from some educators and government officials. Why this relentless, ruthless campaign of deceit and falsehood? Jesus said, "For you are the children of your father the devil, and you love to do the evil things he does. He was a murderer from the beginning. He has always hated the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, it is consistent with his character; for he is a liar and the father of lies" (John 8:44). Satan is the great deceiver and he is the fountainhead of falsehood, error and lies. He is the father of lies! Don't be deceived!

AMAZING WHAT?

Victor Knowles - Tuesday, February 11, 2014
Just about everything and anything is deemed "amazing" today. An Olympic victory, a performance on American Idol, a restaurant or even a sandwich or poached egg. "Amazing" only appears three times in the NIV (all in the O.T.) and only once in the NASB (John 9:30). I do love the song "Amazing Grace" and I do believe that God's grace is truly worthy of being called "amazing." If everything and anything is "amazing" what does that do to God's amazing grace? I wonder if perhaps we should be as sparing of the word as God is in His Word? Or at least be a little more discriminating? Spoken here as one who loves words and their proper use.

LIVING IN A WHATEVER WORLD

Victor Knowles - Thursday, January 23, 2014
LIVING IN A WHATEVER WORLD. "For whatever is in your heart determines what you say" (Matthew 12:34 NLT). No one is held accountable for what they say today. Bad language? Whatever. Coarse words? Whatever. Cheap shots? Whatever. Out and out lies? Whatever. It all comes back to the heart. If your heart is full of vile stuff, vile stuff is going to slosh out. That's not entertainment. That's not good for anyone. No wonder the Bible says that every man should be slow to anger, slow to speak, and quick to listen.

NEVER MIND ABOUT YOUR BELONGINGS!

Victor Knowles - Wednesday, January 22, 2014
Reading tonight where Pharaoh told Joseph to bring his father and families to Egypt. "Never mind about your belongings, because the best of all Egypt will be yours" (Genesis 45:20). A greater than Pharaoh is saying to us, "Never mind about your belongings, because the best of all Heaven will be yours."

MAKE A DECISION!

Victor Knowles - Monday, January 13, 2014
MAKE A DECISION! How much longer will you sit on the fence, refusing to make a decision between the Lord and Baal? If you believe the Eternal One is the True God, then devote yourselves entirely to Him. If you believe Baal is your master, then devote yourselves entirely to him. All the people who were gathered together atop Mount Carmel were completely silent. They didn’t know what to say to this. (1 Kings 18:21, The Voice).

I'LL MEET YOU IN THE MORNING

Victor Knowles - Wednesday, January 08, 2014
I'LL MEET YOU IN THE MORNING. Evelyn was reading to me last night a story about the late, great James Blackwood. He was once asked about his favorite recollection. He mentioned a night when he was singing at Veterans Auditorium in Greenville, SC. "I was singing 'I'll Meet You in the Morning,' and then, as I often do, I went off stage down into the audience shaking hands with people along the front row. I went down an aisle as far as my microphone cord would let me, and people began coming down the aisle to shake hands. Suddenly I saw a little grey-haired lady coming down that aisle on crutches.'
"She came to me with tears streaming down her face, put her arms around me and said, 'James, that's my promise to you. I'll meet you in the morning.'
"You know, that stays in my mind. And if I had to pick one things that seems to have affected me more than any other -- because she looked just like my little mother -- that has to be number one in my life."
